Life Below Water
Sustainable Development Goal 14
SDG 14: Life Below Water
For most African landlocked countries, direct access to the ocean is absent, yet the seas and marine resources of the continent remain vital to their economic development.
The Challenge
African landlocked countries face unique challenges in accessing the benefits of marine resources. Dependence on neighbouring coastal states for port access and transit routes creates vulnerability to policy changes and infrastructure bottlenecks.
Our Commitment
Through initiatives such as the Annual Blue Economy Conference, Women in Maritime and Logistics, and the Catch Them Young initiative, ALCRC actively builds human capital to enable landlocked populations to participate in blue economy opportunities.
